The end of an excellent ski day offers great views. This one is of Lobo Peak after a snow storm and in the afternoon sun.

On Saturday and Sunday Bob and Larry skiied at Santa Fe. The view from the Lake Peak area was superb.
We worked our way down almost every expert run on the mountain.
We recouped every so often at the mid-mountain lounge. We thought this lift chair swing would look good on the TaosHaos front porch.
On Monday we started off on 6" of new powder and more fell on us as the morning went by.
Getting up and down the 15 mile mountain road from Santa Fe to the ski area was quite an adventure. On one 11% grade some folks did not make it up. Our Jeep chugged up the road very well. At the top I elected to put on chains in case they were needed on the way down. They were needed because the snowplows were not keeping up and the road was very icy and slick. We made our flight in ABQ with a little time to spare
1st Annual Sims Men Ski Weekend
Hello Friends and Family-
I'm not one of the grizzly mountain men, but I'm creating this blog on their behalf. Bob and Larry Sims are 60+ years old and ski better than most 20 year olds (myself included!). For the record, I'm James (son of Bob) and hope to one day join the ranks of the grumpy old ski bums, but I think I need to wait 25 years or so.
The past several years, Bob has made it his goal to become a Taos local, and devote as many days as possible to the ski mountain. Larry has joined him on this noble quest, and now they can finally share pictures, videos and memories with all of us.
We recently took a trip to Taos, NM for MLK weekend- and Jonathan (son of Larry) and I got to join in on the skiing fun. To start off the blog, I'll post a video we made on our first ski day...
We took a short hike to Hunziker Bowl and Bob filmed Larry and I skiing down. Larry's first, then me... not our finest work!
Anyways- I'm going to turn over the blog to the mountain men themselves and hopefully you'll all enjoy taking part in my Dad's life goal of becoming a ski bum!!
-James Sims, PhD Candidate and aspiring ski bum
